of improvement in leadership skill sets.
• To raise awareness of both advantages and challenges

Objectives:
• To understand how regionalism impacts communities.
• To gain knowledge about how the county interacts
with municipalities.
• To increase understanding of the county justice
system.

Development Day
Economic Development Center - St. Peters
(Directions to Economic Development Center (EDC)
From I-70, take Mid Rivers Mall Drive south past St. Charles
Community College. The EDC is approximately ¼ mile
further down on the left side of the road. Coming from Hwy
40/64, take Hwy 94 north to Mid Rivers Mall Drive and turn
left. After passing the entrance to Old Hickory, the EDC
is the next building on your right. Staff will guide you
to our meeting place. )
Objectives:
• To increase understanding of city development plans,
their effect on
the county and how the cities interact with
each other.
• To gain added insight into issues facing the local
homebuilding community.
• To view firsthand various industries in the county.
• To learn about new urbanism and understand the economic
impact of
communities like New Town.

Mall Drive for approximately 3 miles. The campus is located
on the right side of the street. Turn right onto Cottleville
Parkway. Turn right at the first or second light to enter
the campus.)
Objectives:
• To understand how homelessness impacts the county
and what is
being done to address it.
• To identify opportunities for and benefits of community
involvement
and volunteerism.
• To learn about various social services organizations
and what types
of services they provide for the county as
well as what are some of
the obstacles they face
• To compare and contrast issues facing area school
districts,
especially overcrowding in schools.
• To compare and contrast issues facing the local
healthcare community, with a focus on
obesity and what healthcare professionals and
organizations are doing to address it.

of Representatives and the Senate.

Governors mansion.
• To explore the vast array of services provided by
the Missouri
Highway Patrol laboratory.

entrance at the intersection of First Capitol Drive and
Kingshighway. Turn left into the parking area (old First
Capitol Drive before realignment) and follow past the Visitor

John Weber Drive and go down hill to Spellman Center (#31
on campus map - building has clock tower). The room is called
the Leadership Room. It is on the 4th Floor in the Spellman
Center.)

miss the equivalent of an 8-hour day, you will need to make
up the day during the 2007-2008 program in order to receive
your program graduation pin.

Each session agenda is posted on the web for your review.
Be prompt for the morning time, it is distracting to the
speaker when we have late arrivals.
